Thank you for all you do for our children. Each day, I welcome every student and remind them that they matter to the Port Barre staff. We are committed to giving them the best instruction and are working tirelessly to improve our campus and facilities for their benefit. As I’ve said since day one, "Our kids deserve better." I believe that deeply and hope my efforts reflect that belief.

I ask that you please read this message and use the millage calculator linked above and below for your convenience. The facts are clear: we are one of the lowest-taxing parishes in the state, and it has been 40 years since we last addressed a millage for our schools. I live here, I pay taxes here, and my children deserve more. Please review the information, consider the facts, and make the decision you feel is best — I will respect your choice.

Providing "Care You Can Count On." 🛡️ March is National Athletic Training Month, and we are highlighting the essential work our athletic trainers do to keep our student athletes safe, healthy, and on the field.

March is National Reading Month! 📚 Whether it’s a daring adventure or a deep dive into history, reading opens doors to endless possibilities. We encourage all our students to grab a book and discover something new this month.

Behind every successful student is a support system that cares. This week, we celebrate our incredible School Social Workers! 🌟 They are the bridge between home, school, and community, helping our students navigate challenges and reach their full potential.

The Ag Department's spring vegetable and flower plants came in today. We will be transplanting them next week and they should be ready for sell in 4 weeks!

We are offering seat time tomorrow, Saturday, Feb 28th from 8:00am to 10am for any student who has unexcused absences.

High school only: Mark your calendars. As per district decision March 10th-only juniors and seniors who signed up for ACT will attend school. All other high school students will complete assignments from home.

Today, our school conducted its semesterly K-9 safety search as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for all students. These routine, preventative measures are conducted in partnership with local law enforcement and are designed to promote safety, responsibility, and peace of mind across our campus. We are grateful for the cooperation of our students and staff throughout the process, which allowed the search to be completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to instruction. Keeping our school safe is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the continued support of our families as we work together to provide the best possible environment for learning and growth. Thank you for partnering with us in keeping student safety a top priority.
